Frequently Asked Questions About Indian Bangles

What types of bangles do you offer?

Our bangle collection includes traditional gold-plated bangles, antique finish bangles, matte gold designs, stone-studded bangles with CZ and kemp stones, kada (thick single bangles), temple jewellery bangles, oxidised silver bangles, and silk thread bangles. We offer both single statement pieces and sets of 2, 4, or 6 matching bangles.

How do I find my bangle size?

Bangle size is measured by the inner diameter in inches or the circumference of your hand. To measure: make a tight fist, measure around the widest part of your hand (knuckles) with a tape, and divide by 3.14. Common sizes range from 2.2 to 2.10 inches. If between sizes, choose the larger size. Rigid bangles need to slip over your knuckles, so ensure adequate clearance.

What is a kada?

A kada is a thick, rigid bangle typically worn singly or in pairs. Unlike thinner bangles worn in stacks, kadas are statement pieces often featuring intricate engravings, temple motifs, or stone settings. They have cultural significance in many South Asian traditions - some families pass down kadas through generations. Kadas can be worn alone for everyday elegance or paired with thinner bangles for festive occasions.

How many bangles should I wear?

Traditionally, bangles are worn in odd numbers (3, 5, 7) on each wrist for auspicious occasions, though even numbers are also acceptable. For weddings, brides often wear 7-21 bangles per wrist in matching colours. For everyday or casual events, 2-4 bangles or a single kada is elegant. There are no strict rules - wear what feels comfortable and complements your outfit.

Are your bangles openable or slip-on?

We offer both styles. Slip-on bangles are rigid circles that slide over the hand - these require accurate sizing. Openable bangles (hinged or screw-type) can be opened, placed on the wrist, and closed - these are more forgiving with sizing and easier to put on. Product descriptions specify the closure type. For gifts when size is unknown, openable bangles are the safer choice.

How do I put on tight bangles without pain?

Apply a small amount of oil, lotion, or soap to your hand to help bangles slide on more easily. Make a tight fist to compress your hand. Slide the bangle over your knuckles at an angle, rotating as you go. Use a plastic bag over your hand for extra slip - the bangle glides over the smooth surface. Never force a bangle that's too small, as this can cause injury.

How do I care for my bangles?

Remove bangles before washing hands, bathing, or applying lotions. Store in a bangle box or stand to prevent scratches - don't pile them loosely in a drawer. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wearing. For stone-studded bangles, avoid knocking against hard surfaces. Keep away from perfumes and chemicals. With proper care, gold-plated bangles maintain their shine for 1-2 years.
